Installatie 15 Kapellekens
Installation 15 chapels in Mol

The 15 Chapels, hidden in Achterbos in Mol, are being thoroughly restored and made more accessible. This enhancement is accompanied by the signage of a new walking path that leads you through the forest to 'Bruggeske' square. In order to place the chapels in a contemporary context, it was therefore decided to provide an installation on this square that refers to them.
With great respect for the historical value, a sculpture is being created with a very clear and recognizable play of lines, namely the contour of the chapels. By working only with sheet material in depth, the whole feels light and transparent, with the white color also contributing to this effect. Only when arriving at or leaving the site does the more massive appearance on the side become apparent. This interplay between openness and enclosure creates a special experience.
The ‘new’ chapels are arranged in a circle. This creates enormous dynamism and, together with their slenderness, the work expresses its contemporary character. Because they seem to disappear into the ground, it feels as though all fifteen of them are represented as well.
