Openings in a U-shape are milled out in the flat sides of the table. Then these elements are pushed in like lips. In this way they form a suspension system on which the glass top can rest. No additional support is required. What is present is used. The usefulness is also decoration. The openings lend an airy rhythm to the otherwise impersonal side, without disturbing the geometry. Ornament is really construction. Or conversely, construction itself is ornament. Both are reconciled in this object, while they are often a contradiction.
